I'm sure this has been covered much on the blogosphere, but the "why is it taking so long" commentary about the war is basically a media construct. The Bush administration never said it would be short. This was only the perpetually reinforced belief of the chattering classes and talking heads. I must admit, I fell for it too, but still realize that a victory in two months would be a swift victory given the size of the task we are undertaking.
However, news came recently that we bombed the Iraqi Ministry of (Dis)Information, which was met with consternation by the usual suspects including Amnesty International. Blah, blah, blah.
For me, however, victory will not be complete until we take out this source of Saddam's propaganda machine, and it's associate.
For those of you not wishing to read my long vacation missive below, let me summarize. On the "It's A Small World" ride at Disneyland, I booed the French and called them "cheese-eating surrender monkeys." Is this a very professional thing to do for a respected, award-winning academic? No, of course not.
I also called them "weasels" on the second and third time around.
